The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the World Health Organization have estimated that approximately 20% of U.S. buildings have serious indoor air quality (IAQ) problems while another 40% have somewhat serious IAQ problems.  This is the result, to some degree, of efforts to make buildings more energy efficient.  Couple this with new building materials, products, furnishings and systems and one is given a large array of possible stresses on the indoor environment.  Because so many factors exist in today’s buildings that can positively or negatively affect the indoor environment, detailed knowledge of the building, it’s contents and the IAQ is an extremely important component which can be utilized to prevent lost productivity and increased health costs.  In addition, the courts have ruled that a building is like a product and anyone in the chain of people associated with leasing, designing and constructing is liable for IAQ.

It is this environmental and regulatory climate that has inspired J&M Monitoring, Inc. to focus on state-of-the-art remedial measures in addressing the significant problem of Indoor Air Quality for our select clients.
